Dr. Annette Woolley named principal of Utsalady Elementary School

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Annette Woolley has been selected as the next principal of Utsalady Elementary School, effective July 1.

We are grateful to the more than 70 families, staff members, and community members who participated in the principal profile survey. Their feedback helped define the leadership qualities most important to the Utsalady community and played a meaningful role in the selection process. As a result, the search process identified a candidate who strongly aligns with those priorities, and the community forum originally scheduled for Monday, June 8, is no longer needed. Families will have opportunities to connect with Dr. Woolley during upcoming school events, including Field Day on Friday, and she welcomes families to reach out by phone or email with questions as she begins her new role.

Many Utsalady families already know Dr. Woolley. This spring, she stepped into the role of administrator supporting Utsalady students, staff, and families following a leadership transition at the school. During that time, she quickly became a familiar and trusted presence in classrooms, hallways, and school events, helping guide the school through a successful finish to the year.

"Dr. Woolley has demonstrated a strong commitment to students, staff, and families throughout her time at Utsalady," Superintendent Dr. Ryan Ovenell said. "She is a relationship-focused leader, and we are excited to have her continue leading the Utsalady community."

Dr. Woolley originally joined the Stanwood-Camano School District last summer as assistant principal at Port Susan Middle School. Prior to coming to Stanwood-Camano, she served in the Lake Stevens School District as the Highly Capable Program Coordinator and a Principal Intern. She brings more than 20 years of experience in public education, including roles as a classroom teacher, Multilingual Learners teacher, Highly Capable teacher and program coordinator, and district leader.

Throughout her career, Dr. Woolley has been recognized for her commitment to student success, inclusive practices, and strong partnerships with families and staff. She has led Native education initiatives, supported schoolwide academic and behavioral systems, mentored educators, and helped create learning environments where students feel valued, supported, and connected.

Dr. Woolley holds a master's degree in education and recently completed her Doctorate in Educational Leadership through the University of Washington.

"I am honored to continue serving the Utsalady community in this role," Dr. Woolley said. "Over the past several weeks, I have seen firsthand the dedication of our students, staff, and families. Utsalady is a special place, and I look forward to continuing to support every student's growth and success."
